WHAT IS A CONVENTION?
The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) is led by THE PEOPLE - we are a grassroots organization that starts in your neighborhood!
The RPT convention process occurs every 2 years and is how Texas Republicans agree on the ideas in our platform and provide our representatives with a map of expectations!

2026 State Convention Delegate Application
Precinct Conventions
The Precinct Conventions is where it all starts. This is the “grassiest” and “rootiest” level of party grassroots engagement.
Saturday, March 28th
Registration: 9AM
Grimes County Justice & Business Center
270 FM 149, Anderson, TX
Anyone can be a delegate to the Precinct Convention!
Delegates will meet with neighbors in their precinct to do 2 things:
1) Resolutions: You may present resolutions to be added to the RPT Platform. Each precinct will review, discuss, and vote on resolutions to be presented at the County Convention.
2) County Delegate Selection: Each precinct is allowed representation to the County Convention - if you want to be a delegate to the County Convention or be considered to be a delegate to the State Convention, you need to attend the Precinct Convention OR plan for a neighbor in your voting precinct to place your name into consideration.

County convention
Grimes County is contained completely in 1 Senate District - so we hold a County Convention.
Saturday, March 28th
Registration: Immediately after the close of Precinct Conventions
Grimes County Justice & Business Center
270 FM 149, Anderson, TX
This is where all the delegates selected at the Precinct Conventions come together to accomplish the same 2 goals:
1) Resolutions: You may present resolutions to be added to the RPT Platform. The delegates will review, discuss, and vote on resolutions approved at Precinct Conventions to forward to the Texas State Convention.
2) County Delegate Selection: Each precinct is allowed representation to the State Convention - if you want to be a delegate to the State Convention, you need to attend the County Convention OR plan for a neighbor to place your name into consideration!

Republican Party of Texas Convention
Committees: June 8-10
Convention: June 11-13
George R. Brown Convention Center
Houston, TX
Delegates from around the State of Texas will come together to perform the RPT's business. This will include a bit more than the Precinct & County Conventions & will be at a much larger scale - the RPT convention will be HUGE!
1) Resolutions: Resolutions that were approved through Precinct or County Conventions around Texas will be reviewed, debated, and voted on by delegates for addition to the RPT Platform.
2) State Party Representation: Much of delegates time at State Convention is spent meeting delegates from within our own Senate District discussing, debating, and electing 1 Committeman & 1 Committewoman to the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) - this is like the 'Board of Directors' of the RPT.
Delegates will also discuss, debate, and vote on a new RPT Chairman and Vice-chairman to lead the state party.
3) National Party Representation: Delegates will debate and elect 1 National Committeeman & 1 Comitteewoman - Texas' representatives to the National Republican Party.
4) Kickoff the November 2026 General Election: The State Convention is the official kickoff for VICTORY IN NOVEMBER! Delegates will attend training sessions, connect with vendors, meet candidates, and network with other conservative activists to be better community leaders!
