Chief Justice Jimmy Blacklock has been a strong and steady voice for the Constitution on the Texas Supreme Court since Governor Greg Abbott appointed him in 2018. 

Justice Sullivan has dedicated his professional life to upholding the rule of law and defending the Constitution. He was appointed to the Texas Supreme Court by Governor Greg Abbott on January 7, 2025, after serving as the Governor's General Counsel.

Justice Hawkins is grateful to Governor Abbott for the opportunity to continue serving Texans in this new capacity, and I approach this responsibility with the same respect for our Constitution and the rule of law that has guided my entire career.

Justice Busby is also a nationally recognized appellate attorney and teacher. He served as a law clerk for two justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, presented oral argument in that court and others across the country, and taught law students at the University of Texas.

Thomas Smith has spent a decade serving alongside the most conservative and effective Attorney General in the nation, Ken Paxton.  During that time, he has been a conservative warrior for strengthening the rule of law and our Constitution, fighting for justice for victims of crime, and working on laws to protect our children.

Judge Yeary has a nearly 12-year judicial track record for Texans to see. His record shows he understands that judges do not make law. His record demonstrates that he has a proper understanding of the separated powers of government and knows how to stick to the judicial lane.

John moved to Texas 22 years ago to attend Baylor Law School. After graduation, he worked at the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office. He moved to Pflugerville in 2011 to work at the Office of the State Prosecuting Attorney in Austin.

As Chief Justice, I believe every case deserves careful attention, and every party deserves an impartial judge who applies the law, not personal beliefs or political preferences. My approach has been the same: follow the law as written, respect the Constitution, and issue clear, reasoned decisions that stand the test of time.

As a judge, I believe in applying the law as written—not rewriting it to fit personal views or political outcomes. The Constitution, statutes, and precedents are the foundation of our legal system. It’s my job to interpret and apply them fairly and consistently.

Texans deserve a judiciary that is impartial, principled, and grounded in respect for the legal process. I’m proud to serve with that mission in mind—ensuring that every person who appears before the court receives a fair hearing and equal justice under the law.

Throughout his career, Justice Jewell has been recognized for his outstanding abilities. Justice Jewell has been Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1998, he is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Houston Bar Association, and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. 

As Justice, I will ensure that the lower courts are appropriately following the law and that the decisions being made are fair, equitable, and uphold the integrity of the Texas legal system. I share the conservative values of judicial restraint and strict interpretation of the laws as written and will not allow judges to legislate from the bench.

Justice Gunn’s judicial philosophy is founded on a commitment to interpret the law faithfully and impartially, with a deep respect for the letter and spirit of the constitution. He approaches each case with the belief that the law, when correctly applied, serves as the cornerstone of a fair and just society.

Jessica Caird will uphold Republican values.  She believes in the United States and Texas Constitutions, and she understands those sacred documents must be interpreted as written because they stand as the will of the people.  We have existed as a society of laws since our founding, and must remain so to succeed and thrive as a community.

Justice Ken Wise was appointed to the 14th Court of Appeals by Governor Rick Perry in October 2013. Prior to his appointment, Justice Wise served as the Judge of the 334th Judicial District Court in Harris County and Judge of the 152nd Judicial District Court in Harris County. In 2011, the 59 District Judges in Harris County elected Justice Wise to lead them as Local Administrative Judge.
