Gender Identity & Texas Republicans

Every two years, thousands of grassroot Republican voters from around Texas gather at a State Convention. This gathering determines what it means to be a Republican in Texas.

One of the most important ways this happens is the development of the official platform of the Texas Republican Party. This document lays out in pain staking detail what the Texas Republican Party believes - not everyone agrees with everything - but it is a pretty amazing document.

The Grimes County Republican Party would like to remind Republican voters what we are fighting to support by highlighting various planks of our Texas Republican Platform.

Plank 148 Gender Identity says:

"We oppose all efforts to validate transgender identity and ideology. We believe gender modification in any form for minors does not constitute medical care and is, in fact, child abuse. Further, there shall be no attempt to engage in so-called “gender affirming” medical or mental health intervention for persons between the ages of 18 and 26, including:

a) Intervening in any way to prevent natural progression of puberty.

b) Administering or providing opposite sex hormones.

c) Performing any surgery on healthy body parts of that person.

d) Assigning name or pronoun changes.

Any agency, individual, or other entity promoting, performing, or facilitating gender-transitioning or gen

der-modification of a minor child shall be criminally prosecuted for child abuse and exposed to civil actions, enjoying no immunity regardless of profession, relation, or standing."

The Texas Republican Party understands that there are 2 genders and that they correspond to biological sex.
