Judicial horror stories - Vote for Jessica Caird (1st Court of appeals)

Conservative Jessica Caird needs Grimes County's help to win a seat on the Texas 1st Court of Appeals (Place 5)!
Jessica is running to defeat a sitting judge - Judge Guerra has a track record of decisions that left everyday Texans worse off.
Judge Guerra upheld a Pakistani, Sharia‑law divorce that left a Texas woman with nothing — no share of the couple’s property and no real chance to fight it. The woman didn’t even know she’d been “divorced” for two years, which meant the courts in Pakistan couldn’t fix the problem, and Judge Guerra refused to fix it here.
She also threw out the punishment of a man who had already murdered twice, adding new hurdles for DNA evidence that neither the U.S. Supreme Court nor Texas law requires. The families of his victims had to wait years while higher courts reviewed her decision, reversed it, and sent it back. After all that time, Judge Guerra finally ruled the defendant couldn’t even raise the claim she used to undo his sentence.
And when a Houston developer tried to get relief after new flood rules wiped out the value of their lakefront property, Judge Guerra wrote the opinion that blocked them from getting any compensation. The Texas Supreme Court later reversed her, but only after years of extra litigation.
Taken together, these cases show a pattern: Judge Guerra has shut the courthouse doors on Texas property owners while reopening them for a twice‑convicted murderer hoping for a lighter sentence. Texans deserve better from the First Court of Appeals, Place 5. It’s time to replace Judge Guerra and restore fairness to the court.
